Software I used to use (when I used Windows):
Microsoft Windows XP, tricked out with:
- PowerToys
- Alt-Tab Replacement - With this PowerToy, in addition to seeing the icon of the application window you are switching to, you will also see a preview of the page. This helps particularly when multiple sessions of an application are open.
- Open Command Window Here - This PowerToy adds an "Open Command Window Here" context menu option on file system folders, giving you a quick way to open a command window (cmd.exe) pointing at the selected folder.
- Tweak UI - This PowerToy gives you access to system settings that are not exposed in the Windows XP default user interface, including mouse settings, Explorer settings, taskbar settings, and more. (I use this predominantly so I can hit tab to complete filenames in the command line).
Windows Privacy Tools, an implementation of GNU Privacy Guard for Windows, used primarily for digitally signing and encrypting files.
Mozilla for Web, Email, Newsgroups, enhanced with:
- Mostly Crystal theme.
- Enigmail for digitally signed and encrypted mail.
- Kookie Jar, email signature manager.
SharpReader for subscribing to RSS and ATOM feeds.
gaim, a multi-network instant messenger client. Tricked out with:
- Gaim-encryption - Encrypts conversations using RSA. Only works with other gaim users.
- popup-notify
- Adds MSN-style popups on certan events.
Microsoft Office Professional 2003
Microsoft OneNote 2003
TypePad
Stuff I like:
Lookout - Instantaneous search of contents of Outlook.
SpamBayes plugin for Outlook.
Ella for Spam Control.
